Mentoring, Coaching & One-on-One Classes (online)
Beginners as well as advanced painters face often invisible challenges having to do with clarifying goals, identifying persistent problems, developing a coherent body of work, finding one’s voice as an artist, and mapping out a longterm career path that includes funding sources and collaborative opportunities.
If you’re interested in creating an individualized path to success (whatever success means for you) through online creative mentoring, one-on-one painting and career coaching and writing services, please have a glance at some options below and fill out the form - we’ll tawk.
Online Mentoring
& Career Development Coaching
I offer two different ways of working with me individually, one-on-one: making the work and getting it seen. Work with me to generate a body of coherent and compelling personal work that aligns your authentic voice with technical approaches suited to clarifying it. Or work with me specifically to develop a multi-faceted career that begins by crafting an accessible narrative around your work in connection with the wider community of art, individuals, and ideas. (Six weeks is too short a time to accomplish both at once; if you take once session you can get a discount on the other). Both “tracks” are described below. Either way, we simply start where you are and move you on the way to where you want to go.
ALL ONLINE SESSIONS LISTED HERE ARE PRIMARILY ONLINE, via ZOOM, BUT CAN ALSO BE COMBINED WITH IN PERSON MEETINGS (in our Hollisartspace.com community art center or my Nashua, NH studio).
One-Time Session
1-2-hour meeting on Zoom. Can include dialogue, assessments, critiques, exercises, demonstrations. Ask me anything. $195. Prior student price: $80.
Two Sessions
A two-part (two session) approach designed to pinpoint and solve specific issues around technique (color and paint handling, composition, etc.), subject matter, finding your voice, or career planning (representation, artist statement, bio, etc.). $275. Prior student price: $125
Six-Week+ Sessions
Loner-term individualized mentoring and/or career-coaching across multiple sessions. Identify goals, remove obstacles, complete hands-on exercises and assignments as needed as we co-create a working framework for ongoing artistic development. $600/four weeks, (four 60-90 min. sessions) - $700/six weeks (six 60-90 min. sessions). Prior student prices $500 (four weeks) and $675 (six weeks) respectively.
FREE CONSULTATION
Let’s talk - let’s set goals and plan the best way I can help you reach them. No cost.
TRACK ONE - FINDING YOUR VOICE
TRACK TWO - BUILDING A CAREER
TAKE-CHARGE CAREER MAPPING
Hoping to be discovered is not a career strategy. Mapping out a “plan of attack” to get your work widely seen includes, but goes far beyond, artist statements and bios. We’ll write those, and good ones, but that’s just step one. From there I can help you craft a multifaceted narrative around your work that will grow, diversify, and most importantly, multi-source your audience. Learn the crucial steps to building and utilizing allies and partners. proposing gallery and museum shows, and getting your work out there on multiple fronts in the real world beyond the social media. $650 / $400 prior student discount price.
JUST your ARTIST”S STATEMENT
“Why do I have to explain my art, can’t they just look at it?” Of course they can look at it, but if you’re going to weasel out of your statement, you’re missing an opportunity to deepen the connection between viewers and your work. Good art raises questions; good artists’ statements give just enough context to clarify them. It’s not about “explaining” the work, how you made it, or how long it took. An artist’s statement shows what’s in it for the viewer without explaining anything away. My job is to work with you to create an Artist’s Statement that provides just enough clear, honest, and simply stated context to widen your audience and deepen engagement with your work. We (your eager viewers) want to know how to meaningfully see and appreciate what you do. I can help you communicate what makes you tick and how your art reflects that.
$200. One and done: one call gives us all I need to craft your statement, that and a few emails to edit it to your satisfaction. $125 discount price for prior students or if I’m already familiar with your work.
Also Available: Writing and editing services for Bio, Career Mapping, Grant & Residency Applications, Catalogue Essays, Website copy, Resumes. Get in touch and we’ll figure out what you need and how to do it.
