"I was touched by Chris Volpe's shadowy landscapes. The delicate balance between forms and light are there at the edge of dawns and dusks, and he finds eloquent, painterly ways to bring a canvas to that point in time. These go past the point of mere representation, using the medium to whisper in black and punctuate in the warmer hues of light." - Ann Bryant, Art Reviewer for the Portsmouth Herald |

| * Nocturne, Star Island, Isles of Shoals will be included in the Banks Gallery's annual Portsmouth, NH Isles of Shoals exhibition and sale in November. More information should be posted to the Banks Gallery website soon. * Our friends at the UK-based Cloud Appreciation Society (13,000+ cloudspotters strong!) has added pics of several Volpe cloudscapes to the cloud art portion of their Website. The Website is worth poking around on a bit. From their homepage: "At The Cloud Appreciation Society we love clouds, we’re not ashamed to say it and we’ve had enough of people moaning about them. Read our manifesto and see how we are fighting the banality of ‘blue-sky thinking.’ Recommended! * Afternoon/Evening Thunderstorms will be on display until December 5 as part of the juried UNH staff show In the Company of Artists, which opened on September 26 in the Dimond Library's museum on the building's first floor. * Group show of works inaugurating the new gallery space at the Rollinsford Public Library at the Salmon Falls Mill in Rollinsford, N.H. A changing roster of five or so landscapes will be shown for sale throughout the summer. *
As always, please feel free to contact Chris for a private studio showing at the Salmon Falls artist studios in Rollinsford, N.H. |
